For over a decade, this agricultural facility has relied on a temporary, makeshift solution to access conveyor lines. Navigating the area was inefficient and presented ongoing safety concerns. With limited space and no clear path forward, the customer needed a reliable, space-conscious solution to enhance both safety and workflow.
Our process began with an on-site visit to assess existing constraints, understand the client’s challenges, and clarify the goals for the new system. Armed with photos, measurements, and a comprehensive understanding of their needs, our team evaluated various product options.
We identified a stair system with an extruded aluminum frame featuring compatible slots and T-bolts that would mount directly onto the customer’s conveyor frames—leveraging their existing infrastructure.
After completing an approval phase with detailed shop drawings, we produced and installed a test set to verify form and fit. This successful trial paved the way for the complete replacement of over 60 temporary steps throughout the facility. To ensure a smooth installation, each new stair was individually labeled with corresponding part numbers visible on the packaging—allowing contractors to quickly and accurately place each component.
The project exceeded expectations. The facility manager was so impressed that they hosted a company-wide showcase highlighting the accomplishment, inviting Metalsource to participate. Contrary to common perceptions that prioritizing safety comes at the expense of efficiency, this project demonstrated that increased safety can directly contribute to optimized operations.
Today, our client’s location stands as a leader in both safety and efficiency within their global organization.
